What is truth? People are constantly in a state of change about what they consider the truth, and it is the person who controls the perception of truth who ultimately wields the most power in a society.
History is written by the victors, but there’s nothing positive about what those people did to “win.” What we were told in public school about history is now being called “no longer true.” The fact is it was never true.
There are critical details about history that were completely left out of our “education,” and then there are even deeper things about our history being hidden from us that we probably can’t even conceive of.
Here are a few “facts” you may have once been taught that are not “no longer” true, but they never have been true.
1. The United States gained independence from Britain in 1776.
This isn’t much of a falsehood that demands the attention of people who want to know the truth about history, it’s just a small error. It probably wasn’t taught like this in most public schools because they have no problem leaving in the details that are irrelevant yet correct.
The Declaration of Independence was signed on July 4, 1776, but the US being officially separate from the state of Great Britain of course did not become official until the war was won and the Treaty of Paris was signed on September 3, 1783. But why is this even considered the most relevant thing?
School textbooks would never dare mention the role of bankers in the American Revolution, or the Bank of England and the fact that European bankers tried to seize influence in America for every single decade that followed the revolution, through proxies and sellouts such as Alexander Hamilton.
Much of the time when studying history, you might notice that there is no protagonist. People on the side of liberty for only white people in America fought against people who were on the side of banking schemes and less liberty for all people in America. There was the Indian killing but freedom minded Andrew Jackson, and the banking scheme-supporting Alexander Hamilton: that’s a more accurate depiction of the political lines drawn in that era, but even that is missing pieces to the story.
2. Pluto is a planet
The classification of “planet” means almost nothing, but it does something to confuse people when scientists and the media hone in on such a minute detail so I guess they’re just killing time talking about Pluto being a planet. Maybe they need something to talk about.
The fact is, several other planets that aren’t much smaller than Pluto exist in the Solar System. They are referred to as dwarf planets. There’s Haumea, the football shaped dwarf planet in our very own solar system that spins so fast it is shaped like an egg.
Then there are the dwarf planets near the orbit of Pluto such as Quaoar, Eris, Ixion, Orcus, Makemake, Varuna, and more.
3. Diamond is the hardest substance on Earth
This is genuinely something that has changed due to scientific advancement. Now, the hardest substance on Earth is considered to be nanotwinned cubic boron nitride.
Since 2009 it has been reported that lonsdaleite and wurtzite boron nitride were harder than diamonds. The first one can resist physical indentation with 58% more strength than diamond, and the second with 18%.
However, the practicality of using these substances is very little as they are unstable and very novel substances that are difficult to make.
The study published in the journal Physical Review Letters does have a hypothetical edge to it, as other important factors other than hardness seem to be left out.
4. In Salem, witches were burned at the stake
According to some historical investigation that sounds independent and true, witch burning didn’t actually occur as people believe it did in Salem.
The punishment in New England for witchcraft at the time was in fact hanging, which is still murder, but in Europe this was different. Europe was actually the place where alleged witchcraft practitioners were burned alive, not New England.
5. Slaves from Israel built the pyramids
This issue will probably not be put to rest any time soon. Do you believe anybody on this topic?
Now scientists using evidence from recent archaeological work claim that Egyptian workers constructed the pyramids themselves, instead of Israeli slaves. Does enough evidence exist for either theory?
The claims for this theory are actually very recent, as Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin visited Egypt in 1977 and popularized the myth.
6. The only man-made structure visible from space is the Great Wall of China
This was just a rumor. In 2003, Chinese astronaut Yang Liwei himself admitted the wall was not visible from space. However, several other man-made structures are.
