Recently, a report was released by the United States government which claims to identify thousands of Instagram and Facebook advertisements purchased by Russia, which were designed to “sow discord online” and persuade voters in the 2016 presidential election to vote for Trump.
The bias here is extremely questionable and everything here should be taken with a giant grain of salt. You know those pages that seem to be a little in-organic or fake, like some organization was just blindly pumping money into the creation and maintenance of these pages?
Well it turns out that while many people expected the FBI and similar agencies to be responsible, as they have rich histories of trying to “sow discord online” and create diversions, controlled opposition and fake activism, ect., Russia may be doing a similar thing.
According to this US government report, between 2015 and 2017 nearly 3,500 ads purchased were identified as assets of the Kremlin-run Internet Research Agency (IRA), which performs a role in influencing public opinion through the Internet, like the US-run Free Radio Asia which spouts propaganda over East.
According to the House of Representatives’ Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence responsible for this information, the report demonstrates the “breadth and systematic nature of the conspiracy.”
Two-page PDF’s are what the report consisted of, containing a record of advertisements that were categorized by month and year of purchase. The report supposedly documents multiple ways in which people posing as Americans “misused online platforms” to fulfill and conduct their “clandestine operations.”
It just so happens that the issues Russia may strategically want to emphasize in the public consciousness are legitimate issues: it’s not difficult at all to identify the injustices in America and stir the pot a little bit about them. But the fact is, true people who care about these issues in America are the real ones who stir the pot and put the flame to the powers that be.
In any case, any person familiar with activism or social media can identify these fake pages: fake as in, not genuinely inspired, like they are run on auto-pilot.
At the same time on social media, some genuinely real articles might be indistinguishable from a clickbaity, fake article before you actually read them: that has a lot to do with the bulls**t algorithm that determines whether or not an article has success.
So before you fail to respect the quality of an article from an independent, small website, one must read the article first. However to be realistic, 9 times out of 10 if you click on a clickbaity looking article you will in fact get nothing but clickbait.
Another factor that places the integrity of this report into question is the fact that only a limited number of these alleged ads have been released. Poor English saturates them, as suspicious ads often seem to contain. The ads are strange, and apparently replicate issues in American society that are in fact genuine, such as police brutality.
Black power activism was even identified as a theme in these supposed Russian funded Facebook ads. So much true and organic black activism exists in the US, look up “New Era Detroit” if you’re interested in that.
The report claims that Russia favored Trump in the election. As usual they are trying to pin the blame on them for his presidency as they have been constantly talking about to the point of nausea for nearly a couple years now.
Well apparently that preference is irrelevant now, because Trump is defending Israel and bombing Syria just like Hillary would have, like Obama did, and like Putin allegedly did not want.
Even the integrity of Russia’s alleged loyalty to the governments of Syria and Iran may be in question right now, because Russia just showed a lot of love to the government of Israel.
It turns out, the Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu and Russian president Vladimir Putin get along quite well. This photo is from the past, but they recently had another bizarre meeting in Moscow, in which World War 2 and the Holocaust were again mentioned here in 2018, well over half a century later.
Something odd is going on with Russia’s loyalty to Iran and Syria, and their relationship with Israel.
People would be wise to trust absolutely nobody in this situation: the FBI is known for creating illusions to derail the efforts of activists, and Russia seems willing to poison the well in a similar manner. No government on Earth is truly a friend to the common people.
